Here are a couple of pictures of the gap I was talking about in a previous post.

    1. Dave,

Been giving some thought to your water pump running on.

Perhaps it has a small leak at the O rings as ours had, only ours was quite visible, allowing air into the system and thus causing the pump to run continuously.

You could try changing the O rings on the pump inlet on the side of the van and see if that works.

Ours were buggered and it was only the third time out

and after, presumably, purging the air out of the system it has been OK since.

There is a kit that contains the rings:-

It's only £5.99 and might save a trip to the dealers.

When the mobile chap did ours it only took him about two minutes.

      Hope you get it sorted.

Had a look at our van .It doesnt have the same gap you have.It looks like the wood was cut short!! Im sure the dealer will correct.

  3. Neither does ours Ian, but we do have a 5mm gap on the edging on the shelf in the bathroom. I'm sure if you showed the photo to your dealer they would send you a replacement strip. It just pushes on, very easy.

    2. Paul & Carol,

      Welcome to BOB.

Typical, out of all the Orions we could have bought ours has to have a strip cut short. LOL

It was the same with the Elecsol battery in an early sermon,of all the batteries that were piled up at the dealers I had to pick one that didn't hold its charge.

I have familial high cholesterol which is reasonably rare, why can't this sort of luck extend to the Lottery ?

      Another LOL.

  4. Justin & Bill,

I can't understand really how the strip was cut short, they surely aren't done by hand.I think a machine must have been wrongly set as the display model at the dealers was the same.

I did wonder if the gap should be at the bottom so the carpet would fit into it and some dullard had fitted it upside down so to speak.

It is not life threatening so I will wait until it is serviced and get it sorted as there are a couple of other minor things that need looking at ( the black rubber seal around the sink is disintegrating in a couple of places and the locker door with "Orion" written into it above the front window is starting to crack just over the word "Orion".

  5. Had a look at my strip and its the same as yours maybe a little less wood showing but its cut short, I haven't noticed until now so not to worried so might try and move strip up as Ian pointed out.
I,m booked at dealers tomorrow to try and get the Water problem sorted as pump still runs on, if I try and adjust it purges on and off. Maybe switch needs changing, just hoping they sort it as bit of a nuisance having to turn master switch on and off.

  6. Dave,

I hadn't noticed it until our last trip but of course now I know it is there I keep looking at it.

I tried to move the strip up but it appears to be glued in.

If you mention it to the dealers let us all know what they say.

Hope you get sorted, which dealers by the way ?

  7. It isn’t glued into the groove, but its a secure push fit. Just prise it out gently from one end and then the rest will pull out easily. The strip is plastic. Hope this helps!

    1. hello Ian, we have the same size gap on our 440-4 but its on the other side, I am not too bothered at the moment as I have a spring loaded pole that has Y shaped ends that I plan to use to hang a curtain so it will be hidden for a while. I have logged it with the dealer that I have an issue with it so they can get a new strip in when it goes for service in September. It would be interesting to know van serial numbers to see if its a batch of vans or do we just put it down to poor quality control at Bailey.

  9. Dave,

I think it is poor quality control, after all someone fitted the strip and knew it was short,so why leave it.

I imagine they just hoped it wouldn't be noticed.

True it is not spoiling anything but it is just bad workmanship.

Leaving things like this all adds to costs, reordering parts, refitting etc. when there is no need.

  10. I kept an eye out for 'The Gap' when looking round a couple of small Orions at North Staffs yesterday and today when I looked round a couple of the bigger ones at Leisure Sales today. Three out of four had a gap so it seems fairly prevalent.
