Divide & Rule

Whilst looking around some larger vans at the dealers last week we noticed that some had a divider of various sorts between the front and back of the van.

We thought this looked like a good idea for when the grandkids are there and they go to bed first.

I wondered if anyone had installed such a thing on their Orion and was it successful ?

  1. Yes, I have Ian. You can buy the Orion curtain material from the Bailey website or from your dealer @£16 per metre width. It’s 54inches long. I bought a length of Swift Furniglide curtain track (comes with the end stops and curtain hooks). I didn’t want to drill the ceiling in the van so I fixed the track to the ceiling between the partition and the wardrobe using No More Nails Permanent double-sided tape, left it to set for a couple of days and hung the curtain. Works great! I can email you a photo or two if you want.

  3. No problem Ian, will take a couple of pics over the Easter weekend for you.

Incidentally, do you have a flyscreen on the door? Reason I ask is that I enquired on one when we were buying the van and my dealer quoted £250 plus an hours fitting! I recently saw a retrofit Fiamma one, bit basic but works a treat in the Orion! I'll send a snap of that too.

  5. Hi Ian

Hope you had a good Easter! As promised, I’ve uploaded some images of some of the various mods I’ve done on my Orion 430-4 to my gallery on CaravanTalk here:

    http://www.caravantalk.co.uk/community/gallery/album/977-bailey-orion-mods/

The divider curtain is actually 2 surplus curtains I had from when my front window ones were replaced, but you can buy the matching material from Bailey. The fly screen is also there, tried it for the first time over the weekend and it works surprisingly brilliantly!!

Over the next few weeks I’ll be doing a few more mods which I’ll add to my gallery, one of them being Operation Spider....

PS: I keep meaning to ask you, does your floor creak a bit at the end of the front seats?

    Best

    1. Hi Ian, we have just had our first weekend out in our Orion 450/5. It's a fab caravan, but the first one we've had or used. I read on your blog you wanted ideas for a dividing partition. We bought our 450/5 knowing there was no partition, but wanting one. Our dealer very kindly offered to fit a swish curtain rail. I was a bit worried about this affecting the warranty, so I rang bailey. They told us there is a metal support rod which runs from the wardrobe to the door, and the curtain rail could be screwed into that. The dealer did a brilliant job of it. We got a door curtain, cut it to length, made a tie back, and it works so well it looks factory fitted. It provides plenty of privacy. I'll post some pictures if you like when I get a chance

Thought this might interest you. Was in the dealers at lunchtime today and noticed that the new Orion 460-5 has a divider curtain across the van as standard. Its not on the Bailey parts website but can be ordered through a dealer at the arm-wrenching cost of £89.80 inc vat. Part number is 1210323 and the curtain measures 1000mm wide and 1950mm tall.
